TO FIND A STUDENT PROJECT

  1. After class ends please visit www.blackrocket.tv/student and click on the FIND button.
  2. Enter the password that was sent to your email address when you created a student project.
  3. Enter the email address associated with the project in the search field. Press SEARCH.
  4. All projects associated with that email will be shown.
  5. Click on the Project URL link to gain access to the folder where the project is stored.
  6. Once in the folder click on the students file name to download the project.

If you have any troubles or questions, please contact help@blackrocket.tv or fill out the form below. Be sure to include the students name, project name, location, week, and name of the class in the body of the email so that we may assist you.

Q: What is the web address to access my project?
A: www.blackrocket.tv/student   Click on: FIND

Q: What is the password to access my project?
A: Please Email help@blackrocket.tv for the password.

Q: What is my Email Address or USERID?
A: The email address or USERID that your child used to create his/her account on the 2nd day of class. A slip of paper was sent home on day 1 of the class requesting an email or USERID.

COMMON ISSUES FOR EMAIL:

  • Student left off @ or .com or .net
  • Student misspelled email address
  • Student entered a different email address

COMMON USERNAMES (Non-email):

  • First Initial Last Name: Example: John Smith= jsmith
  • Last Name First Initial: Example: John Smith- smithj

Q: I am able to access the website, but I do not see my child’s project listed?
A:  Please check the following:

  • Students frequently change the name of their project; please ask your child if he/she changed the name of his/her project.
  • Due to file editing and uploading, your child’s project may not be available until the following Monday after the class has been completed.  Please check back on Monday evening.

Viewing a Movie:


Q: I am able to access my child’s movie from Lego Films, FX, Lightz! Camera! Action, but my computer will not play the video.
A:  Since media players vary from computer to computer. Please download this video player prior to watching your movie. Our video files may be in any of the following formats ..mov, mp4, .wmv, .avi depending on the location.

Make Your First 2D Video Game and Video Game Animation:

Q: My child would like to play his/her 2D Video Game.
A: Please make sure that you are downloading the file with .exe at the end of the file name.  This will allow your child to play his/her game without the ability to edit.

Q: My child would like to EDIT his/her 2D Video Game.
A:  In order to continue editing a 2D Video Game at home, please make sure that Gamemaker is downloaded to your computer first!
The PC version can be downloaded from here
The MAC version can be downloaded from  here

Once Gamemaker is downloaded and installed on your computer, complete the following:

  1. Download the game file from www.blackrocket.tv/student with .gmk after the game name.
  2. Save the .gmk file to your computer
  3. Open Gamemaker FIRST and click FILE> OPEN
  4. Open the .gmk game file that is saved on your computer
  5. Your child can begin to edit and play his/her game!

As it states in the course description, games created in class will not play on a MAC computer.  There is an option to convert the game, but has to be done by a Black Rocket staff member. Please contact us if you need your game converted. There is a $15.00 charge to convert a game.

 

Make Your First 3D Video Game:

Q: My child took “Make Your First 3D Video Game” but he/she cannot edit the game.
A: 3D Video Games cannot be edited.  However, your child can still enjoy playing the game on a PC computer!

Q: My child took “Make Your First 3D Video Game” but he/she cannot play the game on a MAC.
A: As it states in the course description 3D Video Game will not play on a MAC computer.  We apologize for this software incompatibility.  However, your child can continue to play his/her game on a PC.
